In 1991, the College established an Engineering Training Center to facilitate the integration of industrial experience with the educational programs. The Center supervises the offering of an Engineering Training Course, which provides with 180 hours of on-the-job industrial training experience. This includes student-training placement, formulation of the training program, as well as monitoring and evaluating of students' progress and performance. The Center also arranges field trips and site visits to major construction sites and engineering facilities in Kuwait, schedules seminars on employment opportunities for graduates, and organizes intensive training workshops outside Kuwait for distinguished students.

Mission
The Engineering Training & Alumni Center (ETAC) has been established to achieve the following goals:
- On-the-Job Training of Students in Local Industry.
- Facilitation of Students' Field Research in Local Industry.
- Organization of Summer Training of Distinguished Students outside Kuwait.
- Organization of Field Trips and Site Visits.
- Organization and Participation in Training Workshops and Exhibits.
- Preparation and Maintenance of Alumni Database.
- Organization of Alumni Reunions.
- The provide information about collage activities to the alumni.
- Conduct Surveys on Issues of relevant to the Engineering Profession in Kuwait.
- Prepare & Contribute in holding the annual Graduation Ceremony.
Rules and Regulation
The following guidelines are applicable for the Engineering Courses in following Departments:
Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Architecture.
Enrollment Requirements
Successfully passing at least 90 Credit, bearing in mind that some departments have additional requirement to be eligible for registration in the Engineering Training Course.
Students registration for Engineering Training course during Spring/Fall semesters must choose one of the following registration options available: 8:00-13:00 or 9:00-14:00 (Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday) 8:00-14:00 (Monday and Wednesday)
If a registered student in the Engineering training course decides to drop the course, he/she will NOT be allowed to register for the course in the following two semesters..
Students enrolled in engineering training during summer semester will be registered for the course daily from 8:00 to 13:00 or 9:00 to 14:00.
Registration Procedure
- Applicant must submit the following forms (available on the forms section): Signed Training application form, Signed Rules and Regulation form, Recent Curricula Vitae (C.V.), Copy of Civil ID
- All forms must be submitted by the end of June, October, or March if the applicant is registering for Fall, Spring, or Summer semester respectively.
- ETAC will coordinate with the student’s scientific department to verify eligibility for enrollment in engineering training course.
- Student’s credentials will be communicated to prospective training sites to be placed within their on-job training program. If accepted, the training site will determine the training program appropriate for the applicant. In some circumstances, the training program will be finalized by the applicant himself after coordinating with the supervisor in the scientific department and the training site.
- Once applicant meets all above requirements and a proper training site is found, the applicant’s name is sent to the office of Vice Dean of student affairs to officially register the applicant in Engineering Training course. The registration will be carried out on the behalf of the student by the Vice Dean’s office during the first week of semester.
Passing Requirements
- On-job training requires 180 hours of actual work to be carried out at training site premises.
- Student must be committed to the training program setup by the employer (duration, working hours, and training program).
- Student will receive 1st warning if he/she is absent for one day. A second warning will be issued if the student is absent for one more day (total 2 days). The student will receive an FA grade if he/she misses an additional one day (total of 3 days).
- If the student is unable to report to the training site for any reason, he/she must contact his/her supervising ETAC engineer ahead of time or as soon as possible.
- Student must conform to all laws and regulations of the training site. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary actions.
- Student must cooperate and follow guidance of his/her training site supervisors at all times.
- Student must not disclose any proprietary information that he/she might be exposed to during his/her training program. Such behaviors are considered unethical and might result in disciplinary action.
- In case of problems encountered at the training site, please contact ETAC supervising engineer to find appropriate solution.
- Student must be committed to attend weekly meetings with the supervising faculty member at his/her department and/or with ETAC engineer. Students will be notified of the times and location of these meeting at least one week before the meeting.
- A weekly report must be to submit by the student identifying training program progress. The report must be delivered during the weekly meeting with supervising faculty member.
- Having completed the specific training period, the student has to verify his achievement during the training period in a final report. This report must be submitted to the supervising faculty member at the student’s scientific department.
- The student will make a final presentation summarizing his/her training program, which he/she had participated in, showing the benefits and experience gained.
- The final report and presentation will be used to evaluate the student’s performance in the training program and will be used to determine his/her final grade.

Every year, the college of Engineering and Petroleum sends it best students registered to engineering training course during summer semester abroad to get a hands on experience with elite companies. This program has been active since 1993 and is available for student of the College of Engineering and Petroleum. The following are the rules for participating in such program:
- Student must have passed at least 90 credits
- Must NOT have taken engineering training course before
- Must be Kuwaiti National
- Must have a GPA of at least 3.0 ouf of 4.0
