The Office of the Vice Dean for Planning, Consultation, and Training serves as the window through which the College of Engineering and Petroleum at Kuwait University provides its services to both private and public institutions. Its mission is to serve the community and contribute to Kuwait’s vision of becoming a financial and commercial hub in the region by 2035.
The Office of the Vice Dean for Planning, Consultation, and Training undertakes several tasks aimed at enhancing all the services offered by the college. This includes providing the necessary requirements to achieve these goals. The Vice Dean, along with the office staff, each within their area of expertise, supervises the development and execution of strategic plans for the college and monitors their progress. They oversee the implementation of general plans and policies set by the Office of the Vice President for Planning in coordination with other departments and offices within the college. Continuous assessment of the college’s infrastructure is conducted, with a comprehensive evaluation of the needs of each department or unit and the identification of the college’s budget requirements. The office also assesses the spaces allocated to the college and its changing needs in alignment with admission rates and organizational growth, in addition to supervising any current or future construction plans within the college.
The office also participates in various committees within the college, following the work mechanisms and regulations in place. These include, for example, the College Council, the Heads of Departments Committee, the Monitoring and Budget Committee, and committees responsible for overseeing workshops, conferences, and events that benefit the students of the college.
Furthermore, the office sets a work plan to define all the tasks assigned to the Office of the Vice Dean for Planning, Consultation, and Training across all the units under its umbrella (the Consultation, Training, and Accounting Unit). This is in addition to any other duties assigned by the Dean of the College.
The Office of the Vice Dean for Planning, Consultation, and Training is supported by an extensive human resource base of over 400 service providers, in addition to engineering laboratories equipped with the latest equipment. These resources are distributed across seven engineering departments: Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, and Computer Engineering.
The office continuously works on innovating initiatives and methods to maximize the use of these human and laboratory resources in order to assist national institutions of various types, sizes, and sectors in achieving their goals.
